Crafty Monday: Drug Safety

Hello friends, I hope you had a wonderful weekend :). Happy Labor Day to those state side! Last week we learned about drug safety. Michael filled out worksheets about the dangers of alcohol and tobacco. We also did a few crafts. Pics below.

Here is my Pinterest for the worksheets: http://pinterest.com/doverette/safety-and-health/

Michael watched this video (it is broken into parts. This is just the first part):

Just Say No poster (melted crayon method)

I spelled the “Just Say No” saying with tape on a poster. I taped crayons at the top.

Then Chris and Michael melted the crayons with the blow dryer.

After we took the tape offย  I used a marker to define some parts of the letters.

“Bouncing” Polymer Ball from: http://chemistry.about.com/od/demonstrationsexperiments/ss/bounceball.htm

This did not work at all :(. We followed directions perfectly. It was neat to play with but the ball did not bounce. The main point was to show how chemicals change things….just like how drugs change the body. So I guess it was worth it.

The Mix:

The Outcome:

Fruit of the Spirit Still Life Painting

Since we were talking about making good choices, we briefly talked about self control (a fruit of the Spirit).
The only fruit we had were grapes.

Voila!

Drug Safety Lapbook– I simply cut and pasted the worksheets into a folder.

Lastly, we made a seasons poster together. Michael has a hard time remembering the seasons so I figured this poster will help.

Michael’s Poem : Pod Race (pic below)

Yes, I helped him with it but the poem was his idea and he came up with the adjectives.

Michael finally played Krispy Kreme ๐Ÿ™‚

God bless & remember the High King lives!~Amber Dover
