In this post: Thanksgiving 2016 and our trip to see my sister in Texas with stops in Monroe, Louisiana , Jackson, Mississippi, and Tyler, Texas.
Hello, dear ones! How was your Thanksgiving? Did you travel? Did family come to you? I took my first road trip to see my sister. I’ve flown to Texas before, but this was my first time riding there. We knew a 13 or 14-hour trip straight would be awful hard on the kids, especially Leeland. So we stayed in Louisiana on the way up and then on the way back. That split our travel time in half. Good news! You can take our trip for free and without the back ache from sitting so long! Here we go…
- Chalkboard Art
- Thankful Books for the ride
Beauty on the road
- Jackson Mississippi
Lemuria Books~ on the way back we stopped here to get some good reads for the road. I wish I had the time to sit and soak up the atmosphere of this gorgeous bookstore. If you’re in Jackson I highly recommend this pit stop!
Bass Pro~ It was late when we arrived in Jackson on the way to Texas. My husband had no desire to stop anywhere…so we compromised. We actually spent 45 minutes walking around Bass Pro. My husband was happy and the kids had fun while stretching their legs. I got to see more than the road so I was happy too.
Trying on hats & looking at guns
There were all kinds of games and Christmas-themed activities for the kids!
Monroe, Louisiana~ Duck Dynasty
Leeland riding the luggage cart at our hotel!
We bought some great souvenirs! The books are adorable!
Tyler, Texas~ Brookshire’s World of Wildlife Museum and Country Store
We sadly missed their large playground.
On the road again…
- My Sister’s in Texas!
I was so happy to see my sister and meet my newest nephew.
The hubby and I enjoyed lots of baby time.
Leeland was a bit jealous of the baby, but he had a blast with his cousin who is 6 months older than him.
It was nice to have another toddler to play with. Leeland learned a couple new words and he developed a love for playdough!
Michael enjoyed being with the dads, but the toddlers also kept him on his toes!
My nephew enjoyed the electronic dinosaur I gave him. He calls it “T-tops” for triceratops. Here I am reading him a Christmas book. Usually, I only see my sister once or twice a year, so I truly cherish our time.
My sister took us to this huge indoor play place called Catch Air. Leeland was a bit overwhelmed by the lights and music but he loved the ball area.
We also went to a neat park. It had a play town with street signs and everything.
Leeland riding his cousin’s tricycle.
A funny sign on the road…Now I know where the flowers have gone :).
Nana left us Thanksgiving leftovers. We ate them for supper and lunch.
Did you travel for Thanksgiving? Have you been to any of these landmarks?
God bless & remember the High King lives! ~Amber Dover
