Advent & Jesse Tree: December 2nd, 2016

In this post: Our Advent activities for day two, and our own Jesse Tree devotional that I wrote to go with Ann Voskamp’s pictures. A sweet Christmas date and Christmas card ornaments.

Edit: I apologize for being so behind. Our household is fighting strep. Thank you for your prayers.

Hello, dear ones! How are you? Thank you for your prayers. The concert went well. I’ve got a sweet stay at home Christmas date to share. We also made ornaments out of Christmas cards. But before I show you all that I want to share the Jesse Tree devotion I wrote for day 2. Again, the pictures come from Ann Voskamp’s Jesse Tree book.

2. Creation (by Amber Dover)~ The story of Christmas and Jesus first Advent begins in the beginning. I mean the very beginning, all the way back to the Garden of Eden. All family trees begin here. God created Adam and Eve to be His first children. He loved walking and talking to them. Can you imagine walking with God, actually seeing Him with your eyes and hearing Him with your ears? We feel Gods presence by all that He does around us, and we feel Him talk to us in our hearts. But weve yet to see God face to face. In the beginning, the first family was perfect. There was no pain or sadness. No one died. God and His children were best buddies, paradise. Paradise was ruined by disobedience and sin. We will learn what happened tomorrow. Just know, that God wants to be your best friend and He wants you to be His child. God wants us to be a part of His perfect family tree. A new paradise that can never be destroyed. God loves the people of the world so much that He sent Jesus to save them from evil. He sent Jesus to bring people into the perfect family tree. Sadly, some people refuse to accept Jesus

God loves the people of the world so much that He sent Jesus to save them from evil. He sent Jesus to bring people into the perfect family tree. Sadly, some people refuse to accept Jesus gift of love. Mommy belongs to Jesus. I am His child. I hope you belong to Jesus too. I pray that you believe in Jesus and accept His love. Lets pray and thank God the Father for loving us. Thank Him for sending us the best Christmas gift, Jesus. Activity: Show Gods love to others. Donate. Bake cookies to give.

  • Michael made several ornaments from Christmas cards:

Christmas scene in a can~ Michael tied a fake tree to a toy van. He traced and cut the card. He then put it in the back of a formula can. We added cotton for snow and glued the van inside. I cut the top of the can to let in light.

Michael cut out a Super Book Nativity card and stuffed it in a plastic ornament with fake snow.

We cut and pasted this card on a lid. I glued the carolers and fake snow on it as well.

  • Christmas Date~ Our church had a parents’ night out. We had ours in, though. I didn’t feel well at all. We kept our date simple and cozy. Here’s what we did.

Gift of the Magi

We had supper and sparkling grape juice while we watched The Gift of the Magi.

Keeping with that theme, we wrote out and exchanged Christmas lists.

Here’s one for your own personal use: christmas-wishlist

We took a break to bake gingerbread cookies. It was fun decorating together. We enjoyed our cookies with hot chocolate.
