Winter Scene in the Style of Grandma Moses 2015

Hello, dear ones! I want to briefly share with you this beautiful painting Michael made last year. I made one as well, for my prayer journal. We continued our study of great artists and their techniques. For December, we learned about Grandma Moses.

If you haven’t heard of her, Grandma Moses was a famous American painter who didn’t start painting until she was 78 years old! I am inspired by her story. She is a reminder of the elderly’s value and that age is just a number. Her style of painting is called Primitive Art or Folk Art. She taught herself to paint.

Grandma Moses’ style is similar to impressionism. Basically, you paint what you see at first glance and you use bold colors. You’re not going to add a lot of detail. It kind of looks like a child’s drawing. The painting’s simplicity is its appeal.

We added glitter to our snow. Michael and I both had so much fun. He’s asking to paint another this year.

Voila! Michael’s painting and…

mine. I couldn’t resist painting with Michael. I hope when I’m in my 70’s I’m still making art.

Well, God bless & remember the High King lives! ~Amber Dover
