In this post: Our Sukkot Pottery, painting rocks, a homemade sukkah with fall decor, and family camping.
Hello, Dear Ones! Sukkot is long past but I’m catching up on Fall posts. We had a big time with the Feast of Tabernacles this year. We celebrated at home and with our Homeschool group. I’ll share our homeschool fun in another post.
The Feast of Tabernacles (Sukkot) is one of my favorite holidays. Last year we spent Sukkot in Orlando for my hubby’s business trip. The boys and I went to Disney World.
I hope to share that post in the near future. This year we stayed close to home.
You can learn more about the holiday here:

- I drew a bat and Scarecrow on my chalkboard door to get us in the spirit. I later wrote, “God is everywhere”. This became the theme of our holiday. Leeland keeps asking, “Where’s God? Everywhere? He’s like the wind? You can’t see him?” So we go back n forth with this. I’m so glad he absorbed the main message.
- Painting Pottery is a Sukkot tradition for our family. We have several plates, bowls, and a mug we painted. The boys usually paint Fall ornaments while I paint the main dish.
This was Leeland’s first time painting pottery.
He painted a bat.
Michael painted a Star Wars ornament.
Here’s what I drew on the plate before painting. There’s a scarecrow, bats, a spider, an owl, leaves, and a fox….also a pumpkin and sunflower.
Before being fired…
Our finished pottery!
- Prepping the Sukkah- Chris expanded our PVC pipe tent to make a homemade Sukkah.
- we strung up orange streamers, leaf garlands, foam bats, and shower liners that we painted in Fall colors.
- That night we hung up lights and lit torches. It was a magical experience!
We ate as many meals under the Sukkah as weather permitted.
- I read our new book “Sammy Spider’s First Sukkot”
- Michael and I sang worship songs under the night sky.
A lovely Sukkot breakfast
- Rock Painting and painting wooden decorations
- Camping at Uchee Creek- Leeland helping Chris set up the tent.
Michael and I told stories around the fire.
The kids had fun at the nature-themed park. We hid our rocks there.
God bless & remember the High King lives! ~Amber Dover
